Jiaqi Wang, the doctoral student of our lab, won the Best Student Oral Presentation Award for his presentation entitled “Cell wall effects in pyrolysis of lignin in cedar wood” at the 71st Annual Meeting of the Japan Wood Research Society held on March 19-21, 2021. Congratulations!
On August 7th and 8th, the 28th Annual Meeting of the Japan Institute of Energy was held at Kansai University, and 10 students and 2 faculty members attended from our laboratory. Our laboratory had nine oral presentations and one poster presentation. I think all the students made excellent presentations. The program is available from here.

Prof. Kawamoto was felicitated with IAAM Award Lecture 2019 in the 4th Baltic Conference Series at the Conference Center, M/S Mariella, Viking Line, Stockholm, Sweden during 14 – 16 May 2019. The lecture’s title was “Molecular mechanisms of wood pyrolysis –Black box?”
