Research

The 70th Lignin Symposium was held at Mie University on November 6–7. Our laboratory gave the following two presentations at the meeting. Production of aromatic monomers and syngas via pyrolysis-assisted catalytic conversion in hot-compressed water － Reaction mechanism and the role of polysaccharide components －Alex Ikeda Francisco, Jiaqi Wang, Eiji Minami, Haruo Kawamoto Elucidation of the mechanism behind enhanced pyrolytic reactivity in Japanese cedar wood induced by exchangeable Na⁺ and K⁺ ions: A study based on the effect of acetate addition to MWLDaijiro Taira, Yu Wang, Eiji Minami, Haruo Kawamoto In addition, Alex received the Oral Presentation Award. Master’s Thesis Presentation

Education / Research

The Master’s Thesis Presentation was held on February 12 and 13, where six second-year master’s students from our laboratory gave their presentations. Among them, Mr. Sasaki, Mr. Taira, and Mr. Miyamoto received the Best Presentation Award. Congratulations! In addition, although this is a belated update, the First-Year Master’s Research Presentation was held on November 25. Five first-year master’s students from our laboratory gave presentations, and among them, Mr. Masuda and Mr. Mizuno received the Best Presentation Award. Congratulations!

ACBS2024

Research

The 12th Asian Conference on Biomass Science (ACBS2024) was held on November 21, 2024, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Yu Wang, a third-year doctoral student in our laboratory, gave the following presentation and was honored with the Excellent Oral Presentation Award. Dr. Rosna’s visit

Dr. Rosnah (Assist. Prof.) from Universiti Brunei Darussalam is visiting our lab for two weeks (she is a graduate of our lab and received her Ph.D. degree). Dr. Rosnah gave a special lecture on biorefinery systems and their LCA on September 21.
